Outlook.com issues after iOS 18 update

I saw this happening in the past too.

Outlook.com is not working properly after iOS 18 update.

I tried this with Safari and Chrome on iPhone 14

  • Login is possible.
  • Reading a message is possible.
  • Browsing folders and its messages is possible.
  • Writing a new message is possible.

  • Refreshing the page sometimes won’t work
  • It throws a random error and forces you to close the session and start again.

  • Responding a message won’t work.
  • Forwarding a message won’t work.
  • Moving a message to a folder won’t work.

For the 3 above, the page just quickly refreshes or creates a non-stop looping and finally throws an error.

Issue is between iOS and Outlook.com (it also won’t work with the Outlook app).

Clearing cache, restarting, etc (all basic troubleshooting) didn’t help.

I’m capable to manage my mail (responding messages) only while using Outlook.com on my PC.

Something similar like this happened in the same phone, with other iOS update (16 something…)

Anyone facing the same?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

My specific issue has been RESOLVED!!

When transfering my iPhone 13 to my iPhone 16, I have VPN services on. Turning it off would only come back on automatically! Here's my reply post on Apple Community. If you cannot get some APPs to install on new iPhone and iOS 18, this might be the problem. It was absolutely my problen and is now solved.

iPhone 16 w/IOS 18 -can’t log into some a… - Apple Community

Settings > General > scroll down to VPN & Device Management [select]. > VPN [select]. > simply turning off VPN Status will auto reconnect and turn VPN back on. > Select ExpressVPN Lightway [CLICK ON the blue i ] > TURN OFF Connect on demand.

Hi again jackzero.

I had a similar issue - like yours, but it affected me while using my iPhone and my PC as well.

When I browsed around, at that time (about a bit more than a month ago) to understand the case, I just realised I was not alone. I read about people facing the same.

After managing to get support from Microsoft, they have investigated my logs (on their side), and came out with the reason that my account had simply ‘stalled’.

They have done some kind of reset, that allowed me to get back to my mail, without the ‘looping’ thing.

Definitely not your case, as you are capable to use your account on your iPad, right?

I hope for the best, and in case you plan to report something to Microsoft, you can mention the ‘stalled account’ scenario. You never know…

Pretty sure it’s not Apple, it’s the outlook live not keeping up with compatibility. Looks like little by little they are going to stop supporting Apple so maybe it’s time to change my mail software. Too bad I really liked Outlook live, but it really is becoming more trouble than it’s worth. They probably think they’re going to sell more full paid edition this way, for me they’ll just lose me as a long-term customer. They started off about six months ago, conflicting with yahoo and AT&T mail servers now with iOS 18 update there’s all kinds of issues. Too bad used to be a nice mail app. Guess I’ll just have to start getting used to Apple mail instead.

Lucky you! I was able to replicate the issue on both Safari and Chrome (I didn’t want to install also Opera for testing purposes, as well as for any other browser options available).

I use apps at the minimal level on my phone (don’t even use any social media and I feel good about that too).

Mail app is now used for the time being, but only ‘till any hot-fix is made available, so I can come back to mail over Safari, only, as in the past.

: )

Yes, iOS 18.1 update helped some way.

However, less often but still, I am facing these issues:

  • Outlook web app interface in Safari cannot load data showing spinning wheel
  • After dozen of seconds it shows Retry button
  • Nevertheless after clicking this button Safari browser still cannot load data
  • Closing tab and reopening it does not help
  • Closing Safari app and reopening it also does not help
  • Second close of Safari app and reopen also does not help
  • Third close of Safari app and reopen does help

BTW: there is annoying new function "render of last webpage view" causing user to think that webpage has frozen in a tab which user is getting back to
