Why does ì not appear on the selection of accents of Swiss German keyboard?

I have a Swiss German keyboard, and when I press i for a long time, I only get options î and í.

I need ì much more often, and there is no reason why this shouldn't be included in the options.

Why is this so?

Or perhaps more importantly: Is there an easy way to add it?

On that layout you can make ì via option ^ then i.

There's no easy way to directly modify the way press and hold works in MacOS. But if you make a duplicate of Swiss German with Ukelele, but change the language in the .bundle file to en, the duplicate layout will have the wider range of accents on i that the US layout has.
