It's getting more difficult to find printer manufacturers that provide good driver support and don't lock you into all sorts of headaches about their supplies, but I've had good luck with Brother printers. You don't mention any specifics, but their HL-L2460DW should be a good unit and says it has drivers for macOS versions up through Sonoma. Other folks here may offer additional suggestions.
Regards.

There is no ideal printer, simply write down your wants & needs and then begin doing research to see what is available. Remember things like:
Just give it a bit of forethought and you will find plenty. There is no such thing as a "best" printer, that is why we have options.
By the way, I have owned HP, Canon, Epson and Brother devices. Currently I have a Brother laser AIO (print, scan, fax, copy) that is terrific. Had that guy for about 5-8 years and so far no issues. We got it because my wife had the needs at the time but now all we use it for is occasional printing and scanning and a very rare copy of something.
Yes, print drivers can be problematic. So, be sure to get a printer that has wireless printing, which most of them do now. Then no driver is required.
Another vote for Brother.
