Rudegar meant to say AirPrint, not AirPlay 😀
AirPrint support will take away driver worries, as the AirPrint drivers are built-in to macOS, and do not depend on the printer manufacturer. I’ve been using an AirPrint compatible printer for 15 years, and never worried about printer drivers. I would still be using the first one, if lightning ⚡️ hadn’t gotten to it.
If you get a printer that does not have manufacturer lock-in on ink/toner, you will be able to use your printer, even if the manufacturer goes out of business.
I am currently using a Brother multi-function printer attached to my home network.
And because I have AirPrint support, I can also print from iPhones and iPads.
