Going to sleep after clamshell mode

I'm mostly working on my MacBook in clamshell mode. However, I'm daily changing my desk from work to home and vice versa. Right now, when I want to finish working, I open up the MacBook, disconnect the power and display (I supply power via a USB-C hub, so it's just one cable) and then close it, so I'm sure it actually goes to sleep.

I want to know if I need to keep doing this. Is disconnecting my power source and external display while in clamshell mode enough to put the device to sleep automatically?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6
