Hello technology_killed_the_world,

Based on my research, there are two things you can do:

1. Prevent automatic sleeping when plugged into an outlet or another source of power (such as the monitor if it provides power):

  • Go to System Settings -> Battery
  • Select Options... on the same page
  • Toggle on Prevent automatic sleeping on power adapter when the display is off

2. Before closing the laptop lid, turn on Bluetooth and connect an external keyboard, mouse, and the monitors. Then follow these steps:

  • Close your MacBook Pro's lid to put it to sleep
  • With the lid closed, click any button on your external keyboard

As detailed here: How to close MacBook and Use Monitor (Cla… - Apple Community, you may need to connect an external power source as well for method 2 to work.

I hope this helps! Enjoy the holidays.
