iOS 18 Safari tabs not syncing via iCloud

I've also noticed the same problem and I'm very much annoyed with this bug and the fact that it hasn't been fixed with the latest 18.0.1 update. iCloud tabs and its seamless syncing across devices has been my primary reason in sticking with Safari and now it's just straight up a complete mess.

Closing tabs on other devices does not actually close them, open tabs don't automatically show up, and the new interface looks ugly with the blown up icons and the drop down menu to choose between devices is now unintuitive.

I wonder what makes Apple keep making unnecessary changes to ruin what otherwise has been a perfectly fine feature and experience.

Still getting this on 15.1/18.1. Manually toggling sync on iOS and macOS will update the tabs, but they won't update on their own after that. I really fail to see how Apple keeps breaking working features.

It seems like it's kind of starting to work a little bit for me now. I saw some recent tabs from my iPhone this morning on my Mac, but I had to toggle iCloud sync to get tabs from my Mac back on my phone.

I had a glimpse of hope yesterday when my iPad started to show only the active tabs open on my other devices, but today when I turned it on and opened safari the problem presented itself again with zombie tabs and sync not working properly :(

Same issue here. I can only really repeat what’s already been said: I don’t understand why Apple insists on breaking things that worked fine to begin with in the name of “innovation”, but hopefully someone will read this thread and take note.

Same problem as of Jan 1st. I don’t see a lot of fuss over the issue, so maybe it wasn’t used that often. Unfortunately, I use it every day as I move between devices. It was super convenient.

To be honest, I’m getting tired of Apple constantly breaking things with new releases. There were always small glitches, but for the past few years, it’s gotten to be where I don’t want to update until I am forced to. Finally stopped using HomeKit too as it became just too unreliable. At some point, the Apple ecosystem will not have an advantage over alternatives.

There has been no functional sync between iPad Air (4), iPhone 12 Pro and MacBook Air M1 for weeks/months.

Currently, my Safari on iPhone does not even show the field for iCloud tabs when opening a new tab, although activated.

Okay, the syncing is seemingly working again on 18.4/15.4, but the persistent zombie tabs I have been dealing with are still not going away no matter what I try to fix them. Sometimes they reappear immediately after I close them out.

Same issue, seems to be a thing as I know at least two other people having the same problem.

Same worked fine for me up through iOS 17 but now same problem you have on 18

Same here. Closed tabs become ZOMBIES on other devices! New tabs I want to continue with never show!

not the first time Apple breaks syncing for the tabs.... Not sure if this stuff is even tested before they release updates.

18.2/15.2 now, and I still have to use this workaround
