i have a late 2008 macbook and i was trying to install macos el capitan on it but failed and now when i tried to reinstall macos maverick on it from recovery it asked for my apple id to get it from the mac app store and when i entered my apple id and password it just said my password is incorrect and i tried my other apple id and still same thing
From another mac you can easily write the system installer to an external disk. If you have one spare you can follow the link here Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support
But you can also use the original DVD your Mac had in box when you bought it, if your DVD Drive works :)
Uploading a zip with the iso to my iCloud Drive for you too!
This guide will also help you if you have another mac that will let you burn DVD!
1. Insert an empty DVD disc into the optical drive. In the popping-up window, choose Action followed by Open Disk Utility. Then click OK to move on. You can also find Disk Utility in the Utilities folder. Just run Finder and open the Applications folder first.
2. You can put your ISO file to the desktop. Later, drag and drop the ISO file into the left pane. You can see other hard drives in the same list.
3. Click Burn on the top toolbar. The Burn Disc dialog will be activated.
4. Head to the After Burning section. Mark before Verify burned data. Click Eject discto eject your bootable DVD disc safely.
5. Click Burn to save changes and exit the window. Just leave your computer alone to complete the ISO to DVD burning process.
Yes, only the Recovery HD if you had macOS 10.7+ on it before.

Those discs must accompany the Macs they shipped with from cradle to grave. Even refurbished Macs came with them.
That Mac is too old to use Internet Recovery.

@teemu176 You should probably visit an Apple Store or something for a quick fix!
Or you might have another chance if you have another Mac around, friend's or anything.. you can do, some tries with it by yourself.
Its not the same easy processs, as you need to find the .cdr or .iso file for it!

do you mean i could possibly get a new recovery for a newer version it only has been on mavericks
but the macbook doesnt have any macos installed
