New iOS 18 update not showing shared photos and links in messages

Just updated my phone to the new iOS 18 and noticed when I go into a message I can’t find any of the shared photos and links.

My iPhone Xr was just updated to 17.0.3 and now I cannot share or email photos I posted this in Photos earlier. But I now realize, this is only an iPhone problem. The MAC is fine sending and receiving photos. I received a photo through Messages on my iPhone. I wanted. to share it to another friend on Messages. It could not be delivered to any other person on Messages. I also noticed that I cold not share the photo with my MAC. I emailed it from the phone to myself. It just sits and cannot be delivered. I took a screen shot, thinking maybe it was in a format not liked by Apple. That also was not the case. I thought maybe a low rez jpg screenshot, but that could not go anywhere. Any ideas? Is there a new setting I should become aware of that is different from the last system update?

Interesting -- I'm having kind of the opposite issue -- Photos is showing all? of my photos as 'shared' & is 'uploading' them. I thought they were already in the iCloud?? Will be interesting to see replies. (I'm wondering if these 'shared' ones are ones I've used on social media, such as Instagram?? and the new App is re-interpreting this??)
