iMac black screen on boot

iMac late 2015 Monterey. Just swapped Fusion Drive for ssd and checked that all good with ssd connected by usb. Used Recovery mode to install OS and made ssd the startup disc. As everything was fine, I installed the ssd in the machine and booted and got nothing. Chimes but nothing on screen. Checked display connections and they seem fine. What could it be? (Brightness is not turned down btw) (and I reconnected the Fusion Drive with identical result)

Thanks. I know that cable is fragile. Ive been very careful with it but while swapping out the hardrive I have connected and disconnected it quite a few times. I can’t see anything at all showing up on screen. However I connected the iMac to an external display with display port to hdmi and on this screen I get a sort of generic Monterey background but that’s it - no icons or text of any sort. I can move cursor on the screen but that’s it. I’m puzzled.
