Some photos taken recently after iOS 18 have grey boxes.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I have never had an issue with taking photos and then not showing in my gallery, until this past weekend. I upgraded to the iOS 18 before my trip to backcountry hiking. Now there are photos in my gallery that are greyed out. I was in an area with no service but I’ve been in this area before and never had an issue with photos or videos. I have always done the iCould storage. There are plenty of them there are in a section that says unable to upload. If I try anything with the grey box it says “Cannot Load Photo. There was an error loading this photo”

And it’s weird because I have one photo that shows then six more greyed out then another one showing.

There is no recovery album in my utilities section.

Are these photos lost for good? Is there any workaround to get them?

I’m gonna be really upset with Apple if this keeps happening after upgrading to iOS 18. Again, I never had any issues with my photos and videos saving and showing on my phone.
