I tried editing my Home Screen for the new update and decided to lengthen my calendar widget. But when I lengthened it another widget appeared in the top left corner of my screen. It won’t come off or anything.

You could try to reset the Home Screen and apps to their original layout:
Any folders you created are removed, and apps you downloaded are arranged alphabetically after apps that came with your iPhone.
