I just got the iPhone 16, which came with IOS 18, but the plant ID/ smart identification doesn’t work. I tried doing the “show in lookup” as other people have done but there is no “Siri & Search” in my settings. There is Siri, and there is Search, but there is no option as there is with the older ios versions. Please help!

I had the same problem. My 16 pro updated to ios18 a couple of days ago. I just now turned it off and back on and it appeared. Would have thought the restart after updating would have done that, but apparently not.
Try waiting a day or two. For about a day my iOS 18 didn't do lookups either, but since then it's been doing fine.
I just turned the phone off and back on. Never found a setting that seemed to apply. Under Search settings Show Related Content is turned on.

close photo app and reopen

This is the solution! I don't know why it got turned off when I updated to iOS 18. It was nothing I did manually. Plant (and other) ID was working prior to the update. Thanks for pointing to the fix!!
