Auto-Correction is changing my words incorrectly after iOS 18 update on iPhone

I was brought here after googling the same thing that I’m having issues with. It’s horrible! It will “autocorrect” correctly spelled words into misspelled ones even. It’s been like that since I updated it around the time the 15 came out, and then when I got the 15 plus it’s been worse on the plus. It’s aggravating because I have to message a lot of clients for work quickly and it makes my job harder having to constantly go back and correct my texts.

I have the same or similar problems - told them that these new updates are promising too much too fast. And the ai stuff has caused me to remove as much as possible , as fast as I can. You are telling the truth. Marketing is driving the Apple Ship of Quality. Software should be bullet proof and it certainly is not.

so, is anyone having the issue with autocorrect just not correcting any words? I first noticed it when i was trying to text another iphone user, and literally EVERY word was spelt wrong and would not autocorrect (example, i just wrote “example” to give an example of what is going on and i apparently pressed a K instead of the L, spelling exampke (not to mention, almost every word i just typed was mispelled and im spending way too much time going back to correct them, so its at least legible 🤬)).

BUT, when i texted another iPhone user (and a non iPhone user), the autocorrect feature and predictive text feature, was working. For the same contacts that it wasn’t working for initially, it’s still not working.

AND, now, all of a sudden (when I started writing the second paragraph above) both autocorrect and predictive text JUST started working for the second half of this post. I’m so frustrated with this! Has there been any resolutions? I’ve tried the toggle on/off instructions, even restarted the phone, to no avail

Just got the 18.1.1 sw update last night. What was done to the autocorrect feature?!!’ Its terrible. To the point that its completely úseles. And why is It red underlining Words that are spelled correctly? Changing Words that are spelled correctly, but not correcting typos at all?!!! This is horrible Apple! By the way this took way to long to type, because I has to fix Amy typos and all the unneccessary corrections.

can we get a fix for this cause this almost makes me want a Samsung its that bad!

Autocorrect and predictive text both stopped working. I tried toggling autocorrect and predictive text buttons back and forth, reset keyboard, and restarted iPhone. Nothing is working and it is absolutely maddening. Please help.

The SAME EXACT THING has been happening to me too since I updated to iOS 18, it’s so frustrating!!!!!😩🙄😭. Luckily, I’m used to using dictation anyways bc it’s easier/faster to type especially with AutoCorrect being messed up.

But yeah, I’m literally experiencing the same exact thing and it’s so annoying.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS?

While I am used to using dictation anyways, it is just so annoying & it’s just not feasible/practical to use Dictation every single time I want to send a message or type anything on my phone. I might have to get some type of physical keyboard that I could plug into my phone to use that instead LOL

like I LITERALLY CANNOT TYPE, it makes no sense & it wasn’t like this before until I updated my phone to iOS 18 asmy. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I am having the same issue. Totally unbearable. I usually write in various languages and iOS seem perfectly unable to recognize the one I use. It was never perfect but now it is worse than useless: it is completely unusable.

Add me to the list. I have always had an issue with iOS wanting to make contractions out of everything but there are far more problems than that in this version.

it is my opinion that a word that is spelled correct should never have a correction applied.

The auto correct from the new iso has been driving me crazy, it’s bad when it can’t even autocorrect English correctly, then it’s so much worse when you have two keyboards and it keeps autocorrecting to another language when you try to writing in English. To make it worse, no matter how many times I try to rewrite the word, it still auto corrects to the wrong word. I literally gave up on a trying to a particular word and have to use something else.

The same with the Norwegian autocorrect. As an app developer I buy iOS and Android every second phone. Just got back to iOS now after one year on Android. After three weeks now, I’m seriously considering going back to Android. The other 7 times I’ve gotten back to iOS from

Andro have felt like «yes yes yes finally back». This time it hurts. Non working auto correct is just one of many serious issues.

Ever since I did the recent update every time I try to type something it spells incorrectly, or it will separate words like they -the y I have to use voice to type without spelling errors. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s a big issue. I tried to type an email and I had to correct half of it if I didn’t use the voice dictation. Apple, what is going on??

Yup - ever since iOS 18 (iPhone 14's), both my wife and I are having major autocorrect issues. I'm assuming there's some sort of new AI being applied, but the old autocorrect was much better.

Please fix it.

IOS 18.1.1 just made writing Text e en Word e

If you can read the above i typed it correctly. 1) The first 3 Words are underlined in red why? 2) Text with a Capital “T” why? 3) even auto corrected to “e en” why? 4) word with a capital “W” why? 5) a random “e” appeared. Why?

The whole point of Apple is its ease of use - If its lost that its got nothing else going for it.

Apple cant do Text Auto correct and they think we want Apple Ai lol 🤣

I hope Elon brings out a phone soon.
