After updating to iOS 18 the calendar freezes when I try to edit it. I have tried to restart it several times, but it doesn’t help. Any suggestions? Hoping for a quick trouble fix update.

Steve you are the man!!! Took my exchange account off on both my iPhone 15 Pro Max and 13" iPad Pro M4 rebooted and normal calendar function. Then readded exchange account and still normal calendar function. Hope battery function will normalize will report back if it does not.

dortuno, I too tried deleting accounts in Calendar, however they do not delete. I'm having calendar problems on my iPad, as well as my Mac with the new operating system. I hope they get this fixed soon, and I'm surprised there aren't more people screaming about this.
Confirming calendar background activity no longer listed under battery usage by app and excessive battery drain and abnormally increased temperature have resolved on both my iPad & iPhone. Only casualty, other than losing significant utility from devices from iOS 18 till 18.1 and time wasted trying multiple failed interventions to correct issue by myself and with the assistance of regular and upper tier customer support, is a permanent drop in my iPhone 15 Pro Max battery from 100 to 96% maximum capacity.
Sorry for the additional post but also disconnected NordVPN which was actively running on my iPad during the trouble shooting and there was no change.
Yes, startet up with “a new iPad “. And unfortunately I can’t start up using a backup because my iPad is administrated by my work.
I wasn’t able to try that because the iPad froze totally, I couldn’t do anything. I had to connect it to my computer to reset it. Hope you stopped the problem.
Short lived victory. iPhone shared family calendar still functioning normally but crashing again on iPad when try to add event.
Spoke too soon. Calendar app on iOS 18.0 on iPhone 14 Pro worked only momentarily. It has returned to its lengthy, 10-15 minute delay when saving/modifying any data. Too painful. I give up.
Just installed iOS 18.0.1 but the issue remains.
I have had exactly the same experience as you. I do not have an exchange account however. Sync issues are also occurring with the Message app. I hope Apple gets to the bottom of this soon.

I also updated my iPad today, and the calendar seems to be working fine with my exchange account now. Finally it looks like the issue is resolved.
I just installed iOS/iPadOS 18.1 on my devices, and have successfully switched back to iOS native Mail and Calendar apps. I an so glad to have Outlook off of my devices!
