why does my phone keep sending check ins

I’m messaging someone and it randomly started sending check ins while the messages were open. There was nothing I clicked for it to start the check in but it kept sending a check in ended message. it would not stop I tried powering off my phone and turning it back on and it continued to send that message

How do I stop repeated 'Check-In Ended' messages on iPhone? My wife keeps receiving messages from me saying check in ended. It has sent over 50 over the course of 6 hours. I have restarted both our phones and did a software update on both phones and it keeps sending. I have also turn off suggestions from Siri on messages and on Google maps and it is still sending. ios 18.0.1 “an error occurred trying to send the check in to this recipient” I get this error when trying to send a check in to one particular contact. I was able to do it regularly and then suddenly I kept on getting this error. I can still send and receive a check in from other people but for some reason I can’t send one to one of my contacts. They’ve mentioned to me that they haven’t changed any setting on their phones. Not sure if this provides any more help but I did go on a trip out of town (roughly a 2hr drive) and was able to send a check in to her. That was the last time I was able to send her a check in.

Check-In showing “not available” for only one contact I have ios 18.0.1 running on my phone and I was unable to send my check-in in iMessage to only one of my contacts. It showed as “not available”. It worked for everyone else I attempted to send to. As soon as this contact updated to 18.0.1 as well they were unable to send a check-in to me, but were able to before updating. We were able to send check-ins on ios 18 before the most recent update. Is this a glitch with the newest update?
