ios 18.0.1 “an error occurred trying to send the check in to this recipient”

I get this error when trying to send a check in to one particular contact. I was able to do it regularly and then suddenly I kept on getting this error. I can still send and receive a check in from other people but for some reason I can’t send one to one of my contacts. They’ve mentioned to me that they haven’t changed any setting on their phones.

Not sure if this provides any more help but I did go on a trip out of town (roughly a 2hr drive) and was able to send a check in to her. That was the last time I was able to send her a check in.

Issue is solved with the new update, 18.1.

I too am having the same issue sending a check-in to my wife. I used to able to send it to her regularly but now all of a sudden it stopped working. We both are on the latest iOS update. If by any chance you find a solution please share it.

Hi guys. Is there any updates regarding this? It has been forever since last week 10.16. I tried restarting the iMessage and location setting. I also did a force restart. Nothing works. I still can send the check in status to other iPhone users, just not some particular contacts which worked fine before the mentioned date. Please help. Thanks!
