I got the watch from my job, someone left it and never came back, or called to retrieve it it’s been 4 months I’ve charged it turned it on in hopes the owner would get notified of where it is and still nothing. So I’m now wanting to use it but have an activation lock on so not knowing the owner what is there that I could do to get past it to get it reset completely or is it a total loss?

There is no way to bypass the Activation Lock, without the original owner to unlock it. So you won't be able to use the Watch at all.
