How to disable automatic window snapping / resizing on MacOS 15.0 Sequoia

Since Sequoia, my Mac behaves badly. I move a window around and suddenly it becomes full size. Then I resize it again, move it to the center and the size is changed again. It is EXTREMELY annoying and not predictable. Apparently it's some auto snapping brought in from iPads (where it somehow could make sense) but for a normal mouse/keyboard user it's breaking the Apple Human Interface Guidelines. It's irritating, confusing and not even logical.

Thats not how I want my mac to be. I have searched for a button or option to disable this but I have found nothing. The only option would be to downgrade which is a major task.

Do you happen to have an external Dell monitor? I had the same problem on a MacMini but not on two MBPs. Very strange! But I tried killing the DDPM helper utility for controlling Dell monitors, and then my window snapping issue was solved! There seems to be some clash in technology here. Both systems implement snapping, and disabling it in both places doesn't help. You have to stop the Dell app.

(If you still want to use the DDPM app, for brightness, contrast, etc, then turn on window snapping in that app. Perversely it results in no snapping!)

I've had the same problem, tried the options in system settings but without success, as some other users report too. Then i noticed that I'm running an app as startup item called OneMenu.app, which i only use rarely for locking my keyboard when cleaning my mac.

But the app also adds window snapping, which I wasn't aware of. It triggers almost instantly when moving a window (the very annoying behavior other users report here). Macos integrated tiling (and tiling with Magnet.app for example) are way more precise and useful.

Maybe you're running OneMenu as well? Try to close it :)

Right after updating to macOS Sequoia my app windows began to snap to edges as soon as I click the title bar with the mouse. I've tried every guide available to try to disable this behavior, but no luck. Let me be clear, just by click & start dragging the window it immediately changes size and tries to snap to a predefined place, no matter if it moves close to a screen edge or the Alt key is being held or not.

There's no way to disable this function, and that's really annoying.

By chance, I found that the only way to move the window freely without snap activation is to hold Shift-Cmd while dragging it, but I've been unable to find where this key combination assignment in defined.

I didn't like this new feature either, and I was able to stop it by selecting System Settings > Desktop & Dock, and then under the Windows subsection, turning off the feature called "Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen". After doing this, I could still drag the window to the edge to tile it (which is fine) but it no longer fills the screen when I moved the window to the top menu bar (which is annoying). Strangely, if I close the system settings and then go back in again, that option is turned on again, but it doesn't seem to do it any more so hopefully it stays deactivated and I don't have to repeatedly turn it off.

I’ve already been trying all of this options, and nothing of them works as expected.

Then, perhaps the User's expectation are greater than what macOS 15.0 Sequoia can deliver.

Only and FYI for comparison purposes

Using 1 M1, 1 M2 and 1 M3 Application Silicone computers

Each were upGrading from Sonoma 14.6.1 to macOS 15.0 Sequoia

This function works as outlined by @Randall_2023
