Stickers not working on iPhone 16 Pro

Hey everyone

I recently got myself iPhone 16 Pro and transferred my data from iPhone 12 pro. Everything work fine except Stickers. I can't see or add new stickers on my iPhone, however I have the "+" sign at the stickers box. Everything else in that Stickers box is blank white.

Any solutions?

Thanking you in advance

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

This worked!

  1. “Full reset” is “erase all content and settings”? - YES erase all content and settings
  2. The backup up you used to restore is recent backup or did you have to go back to a backup from your old phone? NOPE - from the evening before on the new phone. Been working FLAWLESSLY ever since....

I was reluctant and annoyed to go through this process, but my stickers are working again. Hopefully Apple will be able to fix this via software update, however this method does work.

I can’t see my original post regarding this.

However quick summary bought iPhone 16 pro Max on 01/12/2024 I for the first time ever transferred all my data from my old iPhone 12 Pro max. Via quick start.

I had to update iOS 18 to 18.1 on the iPhone 16.

Noticed the sticker issue yesterday.

Did some online digging to find people saying iPhone 16 pro max was shipped with a buggy iOS 18.

So erase and delete all content on iPhone 16 pro Max. Make sure you have a fresh back up.

Then restore from the back up.

All stickers have reappeared and my phone is working as it should regarding this problem.

I know it’s a pain but it works. 😎

iPhone 16 ProMax. I had the same problem: my stickers were not transferred from my iPhone Pro 14. I would try to create new stickers and they would disappear within a second.

1) I texted with Apple support and they told me they had no reports of this issue. Not true, because there are way too many people reporting this on multiple sites. But I digress. Apple support had me reset the Keyboard settings. This did not work. Next move was to reset Network Settings. That did not work.

In the mean time, I also found that my keyboard shortcuts for various cuss words were not transferred from my other iPhone. This also bugged me.

2) Tried a bunch of resets and other such futile tasks.

3) After 5 days of being annoyed because I love my stickers - say what you want about that - I read on a forum that the iPhone 16 promax was shipped with a preloaded version of iOS 18 and that is where the bug is. Per the site, I performed a full reset on my 16 promax. I restored my iPhone from the backup I performed just prior to the reset. 30 minutes later, stickers are working. My keyboard shortcuts and the words I so enjoy are also back. Sorry that is the only thing that worked.

I got it fixed. I had to take it to the apple store and they had to reinstall the software. Pain in the butt because then I had to reset up the phone, add all apps back to the homescreen, re enter all passwords, reset my iwatch, reset up all my setting, sync the photos and messages which took hours, but it's fixed. My one fatal mistake was not backing up my WhatsApp so I lost all of my messages.

You apparently can do this from home, but you have to download the software from a computer and I wanted to make sure I didn't lose anything...as you have read, I still did because I didn't think about Whatsapp

The bug appears to be fixed in 18.2! I just installed the RC build onto my iPhone 16 Pro, all my old stickers came back, and I can create new ones. I'd recommend against resetting your phone for now and waiting for 18.2 to release and see if it resolves the issue for you too. 18.2 should release within the next week or two if I had to guess.

It can be resolved by saving a backup to iCloud, then doing a FULL reset. I first tried doing a settings reset and all that did was waste my time resetting my preferences. Do a full reset. Then set up as if it is a new phone. You have to put in your email and one or two other basic settings, but then the option to use a backup to complete setups. At that point, select your backup, and magically it works.

the only thing you have to re-enter are the cards in your wallet, but stickers are then working!

So the fix that worked for me after contacting Apple support was to “erase all content and settings”. Then, when setting up the phone, install from a previous backup. We tried a number of steps, but this was what finally resolved the issue for me. It only came about after several attempts without success that we decided to just factory reset and use a previous backup to pull back in all my customizations and settings from my initial setup of the phone. It appears that when activating and transferring from a previous phone to the iPhone 16, during the process, the stickers function “breaks”. So, if you want to give it a try, erase all content and settings and start fresh using a recent iCloud backup for your new phone.

I just spoke with Apple support and he said that engineering has enough tickets for this complaint now that it will likely be fixed in one of the next updates.

Also iOS 18.2 just came out yesterday, so you can install that to see whether or not the issue has been resolved.
