Does the sd card mount if you restart the Mac?

Also, you can have a fast check on the devices as follows:

  • Mac USB Port: change to another USB port, or connect your sd card reader to anther computer.
  • Sd card reader: lightly wipe your SD card reader clean. Then try again to connect the SD Card to your Mac via the card reader
  • Sd card: blow away the dirt or dust clogged deep in the slot of your SD card, also make sure the card is not locked

If it is not the hardware issue, try following methods:

  1. Reset NVRAM

Turn off your Mac > Press power button and hold down Command+Option+P+R for 20 seconds.

2.Update macOS version

Open System Preferences > Software Update, click on the latest macOS and select Install Now.

3.Repair SD card

Contact the SD card supplier and get support from its technical stuff.

If the sd card shows up on your Mac but no files in it, you can use PhotoRec, Cisdem or Disk Drill to recover the files from your sd card.
