iPhone 16 Pro Battery Draining Quickly

Iphone 16 pro battery seems so poor. I unplugged my phone at 9:15 am and by 4pm it had only 32% with 3hrs of screen time. I did my 0.5gb update hoping it will extend baterry life and upgrade functionality of my iPhone.

How is it possible? Anyone experiencing bad battery life as well?

Here are a few insights from Apple Support’s official iPhone Battery Drain help page

Did you recently update your iPhone to a new version of iOS?

  • If you've recently updated your iPhone, battery life might drain faster than usual for a few days. Background tasks like indexing and syncing can temporarily affect performance, so give it time to stabilize.

Battery Suggestions

  • Auto-brightness: Enable auto-brightness to reduce battery usage.
  • Auto-lock: Activate auto-lock to prevent the screen from staying on unnecessarily.
  • Reduce Brightness: Lower your screen brightness if it's set too high.
  • Background Location: Limit location access for apps to "While in Use" to conserve power.

Battery Usage Overview

  • Check Activity & Battery Usage by App: Go to Settings > Battery to see which apps are using the most battery. Adjust settings for apps consuming excess power.

Other Battery Saving Tips

  • Use Wi-Fi: When possible, connect to Wi-Fi, as it consumes less battery than cellular data.
  • 5G Auto (iPhone 12 & later): Enable Smart Data mode to automatically switch between 5G and LTE to save power.
  • Low Power Mode: Activate this mode to reduce power consumption when the battery is low.

Battery Health

  • Check Battery Health: Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health to see your battery’s condition. If "Service" appears, consider replacing the battery.

Thank you for your reply Mac Jim ID. Notwithstanding the fact that the aggregate OS consumption is still omitted from the suggested analysis -- a critical shortcoming -- I see merit in what you suggest. I will likely not conduct the tests but only because I am not willing to spend hours analyzing problems with what is supposed to be a time-saving device, as all of my other iOS devices have been. I have very few apps on my 16 and none that are buggy or purported to be resource hogs. For the time being, I have achieved reasonable battery life by locking down virtually everything I can, so much so that I cannot dictate messages or queries and I allow nothing to run in the background. My platform-agnostic software engineering friends both agree with me that the most likely cause is a hardware or OS defect and, given the very large and growing number of complaints one sees across the web and among friends and colleagues, it is likely a problem that Apple is working on resolving but has not acknowledged as a defect.

When I play Stumble Guys Mod on my iPhone, the battery drains really fast. I don’t know why this happens. Is there any setting I can use to balance performance and battery usage?

Nope, but if you installed a certificate at Device Management to get the mod, you have put your device and personal information at risk. You should have seen this security warning when you added it and you have bypassed the security on the device yourself by claiming you Trust it. You have allowed Malware and even Spyware and that would certainly explain why you are seeing your battery drain faster.

Correct I used my MacBook Pro with iTunes/Apple Music. Spark I have removed completely, switched to Outlook. Snapchat and TikTok have only reduced their usage if I cleared out the GBs used of storage space they take up in their caches. I did two phone calls today and battery usage went from 95% to 70-75% in about 1.5-2 hours or so. Just holding my phone up to ear was burning sensation and phone gets really warm. Tested this on stable release and others. I am wondering if it is physical issue?
