iPhone 16 Pro unexpectedly shutdown, and the screen became unresponsive.

I've had my phone for 2 days and I've had very few issues but just now it turned itself off and on again and now the touchscreen is COMPLETELY unresponsive. I just cannot use it at all. I can't restart it. I tried to force restart with the buttons but it told me it would call the emergency services so I quickly put a stop to that. Is anyone else experiencing this?? (and found a fix?)

You didn't use the correct procedure for Forced Restart

  1. Quickly press and release the volume up button
  2. Then immediately quickly press and release the volume down button
  3. Then immediately press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button. Keep holding it past the swipe to power down and KEEP HOLDING it until the Apple Logo appears (can take several seconds), THEN LET GO
  4. Once your phone restarts, you'll enter your passcode to get back in

Update from post author:

As stated in an earlier post, having tried the forced restart to no avail, Apple tech support were great via live chat and talked me through a phone restore through my laptop. It failed, so in my case it was declared a faulty hardware issue and my phone carrier provided me with a new handset. I have had it for several weeks now and have had no issues with it at all. Apple were very apologetic and helpful and have dealt with the issue brilliantly.

it just died I don't know what to do. I tried to switch off can't do it. Nothing happens its just blank screen. I received a phone call this morning and now its locked with blank screen

Force Restart your iPhone and on the last step, which is hold the side power button until you see the Apple Logo, HOLD IT for however long it takes till you see the Apple Logo --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

If you haven't already, once you're back in your phone, make sure you update to the newest iOS 18.2 version released last week.

You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.

Update on my original post. My screen went black and never returned. Apple told me to take it to Apple Support at Best Buy. Diagnosis was replace the screen since there was nothing wrong with the operating system. So my two day old brand new phone had to get a screen replacement. Since then it’s been good (fingers crossed). Still shocked the screen had to be replaced on a new phone.

You aren't writing Apple here. This is a user to user only forum. We don't know what your phone did and by posting here, Apple certainly can't fix anything. If your phone is having an issue, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for Apple to run diagnostics on it.
