Bluetooth connection issues on iPhone 16 Pro

just upgrade to the iphone 16 pro and bluetooth is stuttering with any devices, and doesn’t want to connect 90% of the time. Carplay, Garnin, Headphones.

I’ve tried turning off bluetooth, hard reset on the phone and still no luck….

After many attempts, my iPhone 16 Plus Bluetooth disconnection problem was finally restored. The cause of the problem was that my iPhone had turned on the airdrop automatic connection switch. When it was in an environment with many MacBook Pros (such as in a company office), this bug would be triggered, that is, the iPhone's Bluetooth could not connect to any device. When I turned off the airdrop automatic connection switch and restarted the phone, my iPhone's Bluetooth connection function returned to normal. I hope my solution can help you.

Interesting! Are you talking about the "Bringing Devices Together" toggle under "Start Sharing By," at Settings → AirDrop, or was it something else?

I'll have to play with this. (If I recall correctly, iOS 18 added "Tap to Cash," etc., right? Maybe that setting was changed to on by default to support new features like that, when they involve holding two phones together.)

This was never a problem on my 10 before I upgraded. My watch, HRM, and speakers could all be operating simultaneously with no issue. Now, my phone is constantly kicking my watch off the Bluetooth connection all through out the day and won’t reconnect. Same problem with the dog collars. Again the only device that changed in my personal configuration is the phone, and this was never a problem before

I was very lucky that the Tech Person at my local Apple Store was, in fact, a Genius! I am not sure exactly what he did, but I have not had any issues since (knock on wood). I am thinking that maybe you might consider going back to your local store if you have the issue again. But from what I am reading, we have to get lucky with who helps us. Good Luck!

… Since we are all users on this user to user only forum, I'm not sure anyone here can diagnose or fix this issue for you. I'd contact Apple Support and your car manufacturer for help with this.

Thanks. Contacting Apple Support, and/or leaving a bug report at apple.com/feedback, is very good advice for anyone experiencing this issue — or any other hardware or software problem — who hasn't done so already. I think it's advice that has been offered in this thread a few times already, in fact.

These forums have always been a fantastic resource for users to share their experiences, and I can certainly see how any particular thread would seem irrelevant — or even useless — to a user who didn't share its particular issue. However, since this thread's topic is an issue I'm experiencing, it's a useful place for me to hear from other users about what they're doing to troubleshoot, isolate, or resolve it.

(And for my part, I hope sharing my own user experience is similarly useful to other users who find their way to this thread because they're having the same problem. I think that seems likely, in fact, given that as of today this thread has been live for five months, is 279 posts long, and has been viewed more than 68,000 times.)

But I agree — if I didn't have any relevant experiences of my own to share, or advice to offer that was specific and relevant to this issue, it would be best for everyone if I just moved on.

Ordered my phone in November, immediately can’t connect to my home Bose setup, assume gremlins be gremlins, next update will clear it up. Come to see this has been an issue since September.

It’s now February 2025, and 2 updates have been released, still not fixed.

Apple, there’s a considerable number of people facing this problem, any official plans to fix this glaring issue before you release *another* phone?

Recently got the 16E. Don’t think this is isolated to just the 16 but an IOS issue. Have been to the Apple Store 4 times. Spoke with apple support. Every time it’s the blame game not what is the issue. Tried wiping the phone, using a backup, factory reset, resetting networks settings, resetting all settings. Nothing has worked

Here’s the troubleshooting steps from your product’s owners manual.

>>It is important to minimize potential Bluetooth interference from some household appliances such as some power sources or other wireless devices:

  • 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz phones
  • Microwave ovens
  • Direct Satellite Service (DSS)
  • Wireless speakers
  • Certain external monitors and LCD displays

In general any wireless device that transmits in the 2.4GHz range may disrupt the Bluetooth connection to Sprout 100.

If you are having trouble establishing a solid connection try moving Sprout100 to an isolated area free from any potential interference and test the connection there.<<

Have you tried any of the steps? The there are reports that BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices are causing intermittent connection issues.

I have a iPhone 16Pro which keeps stuttering on using spotify on my SUV stereo. I've tried to disconnect both sides and re-pair, to no luck. I've reset the network on the phone with no luck. I purchased 4 iPhone 16Pros at the same time for the family and when I tried another iPhone 16Pro with spotify, it worked without a glitch therefore it makes me think its my iPhone 16Pro with the bluetooth issue if another identical iPhone 16Pro works without issue....Trying to work with Apple Support and getting nowhere so far.

Not for me. Running the latest OS and it still doesn't work. I actually ended up unpairing my phone from my car because I was tired of endless cycle of messages coming up on my car's screen while driving:

Phone is connected

Phone is disconnected

Phone is connected

Phone is disconnected

The only way I can use my phone hands free in the car is through a WIRED apple CarPlay connection. So I guess I'm happy that that works. Hopefully that will always be an option when I rent a car for travel.

No it didn’t. If it did, then you had a different issue. Resetting your phone does NOT let it connect to Bluetooth.

Apple did change Bluetooth to avoid the interference when multiple devices are in range of each other.

That’s why we’re having this problem. it will not be “fixed”.

Purchase a newer vehicle, a newer stereo, use USB, or listen to your radio.

I’ve done screen sharing, sent pics and video, dealing with this issue.

This is the case.

Apple will not “roll back” iOS to accommodate “some” users.

Genius suggested purchasing a newer vehicle.
