iPhone camera app keeps crashing after iOS 18 Update

My iphone 12 pro max is facing the same issue of camera crashing after ios 18 update. Apple support literally made me pay for camera hardware. Luckily got ios 18.0.1 update and camera started working for some time but the issue still persists when trying to zoom in and out.

I have had the same issue on my iPhone 13 Mini after updating to iOS18. Thought maybe I was the only one. Hoping they can release a fix. The camera is one of the most frequently used features on my phone… especially when traveling.

I am having a problem with 18 update on my iPhone 11 and cannot take a photo even if I restart the phone, which is an unacceptable solution. Apple needs to fix this. In the meantime I am intending to downgrade the phone back to 17. I am extremely dissatisfied that I have read that Apple is not recognizing this as a bug and fixing it immediately.

I'm writing to report an issue with my iPhone 13 Pro Max's camera functionality after upgrading to iOS 18. Prior to the update, all cameras were working perfectly. However, immediately after the upgrade, I started experiencing camera issues. Specifically, I'm only able to use the 1x to 3x zoom range, while the other cameras appear to be non-functional.

Before the update, I was able to use the full range of zoom settings, from 0.5x to 6x or 8x (I apologize for not recalling the exact maximum setting). Given that this issue is being reported by multiple users across different device models, including on Reddit (e.g., "iPhone 13 PM Cameras not working after iOS 18 update : r/iphone), I believe this is a software-related problem rather than a hardware issue.

I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter. I have already upgraded to iOS 18.1, but unfortunately, the issue persists. Please let me know the next steps to troubleshoot or resolve this issue.

Same here, 12mini and flashlight with rear camera isn’t working, the front camera works only sometimes. That’s bs, they’re clearly doing it to make you go for a new one! Well, I will go… for an Android!

I updated my 13 pro phone with updates : iOS 18.0.1 . in october 2024. 

And since then my phone camera is not working properly, it hangs and shows black screen output, or sometimes it starts in slow motion.

but i just want to know that my phone is working well, before update, i updates my phone twice , and your updates showing bugs for  camera is not working,

I updated it again, it worked only one time and again it went down,

My phone camera stopped after your update to iOS 18.0.1 .  

How is it possible? 

I visited your service centre. They checked my phone and says your phone is out of warranty and now you have to pay approx 20.0000 thousands indian rupees, 

why should I pay unnecessary,??

it's because of your updates (full of bugs in it).

EDIT: The update is complete. Camera preview suddenly "Whites Out" as if someone shined a bright light at the sensor. Then it goes to a blank preview. I'm beginning to think that the Camera App is having issues. I can't even switch to the front facing camera. It locks up. Then if it starts to behave, give it a moment of attempted interaction and it repeats the same issues described above.

I tried reboot, restore settings and re-install iOS 18 with ipsw file, this still happens randomly

My keyboard has had the same issues! iOS 18 didn’t solve it and now my camera glitches exactly as described! I’m so frustrated!!

Same issue with Iphone 16pro

camera app shuts down when trying to make a picture with the rear camera only.

Did a restart, seems to be working for some time now.

This happens routinely when I am on a call (phone or signal) on Ios 18 on an iPhone 16 pro as well. I think it's not limited to a specific phone model.

My real camera problem not working

Me too. iPhone 15 pro max, camera app crashing constantly. Hard restart only fixes the issue for a while before it randomly starts crasing again.

My 12 pro camera is blinking since I update it to iOS 18.0
