iPhone 16 pro battery draining fast

It feels like the 16 pro drains battery like crazy. Mine has gone from 95% to 81% in 38 minutes of light use and some picture taking. Phone also gets really hot when using the camera!

Anyone else experiencing this?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

My 16 pro battery was draining very fast but after disabling siri and search settings and removing whether app widget as suggested here 11 Proven Steps to fix iPhone 16 Pro Battery Drain Issue and following other recommendations too, there was noticeable improvement in battery draining. Note that I didn't turned off raise to wake and push notifications.

The same is happening to me. My iPhone 16 Pro overheats and I can see the battery drain like a counter ticking down. Yesterday I went from full battery to 40% in just 4 hours. Today it’s gone from full to 66% in just over 2 hours.

The performance, battery life and overall stability is far worse than my iPhone 14 Pro and I’m beginning to consider swapping back to my old phone. I wonder if I got a dud device or if this is software issues?

I did an experiment.

I charged my existing 14 Pro and a 16 pro (bought 2 week ago) and used them the exact same way, but they sit mostly unused for 36h. Here’s the result.

You can see the 16 Pro discharge going faster in the last 12h. Both have the same background app processing running (none). Not sure what’s going on on the 16 Pro. After 36h, the 14 Pro is at 85%, the 16 Pro at 58%.

I traded in my 13 pro max to get 16 pro because 16 pro max is too much big for me. My 13 pro max battery health is 86% left, but I used all day, my battery still half until I got home. But 16 pro is used all after 4 hours something, I dont expect the battery can last long as my previous but now is too much. So disappointed, maybe traded in to buy the older model is better option. Tried everything to save the 16 pro battery but it doesn’t help a lot…

I will also add my iPhone 16 pro runs very hot as others have said. Just driving with Apple Maps the other day the phone got so hot it went into Lock Screen because of overheating. This never happened on my iPhone 14 Pro. There is definitely an issue with these phones. Just charging or doing normal functions the phone gets very hot to the touch.

I'm having the same problem. Today, it sat on the coffee table about 10 feet from the router and even though I didn't really interact with it, it went from about 95% to drained and off in about 10 or 11 hours, with almost no use. I'm wishing I had my 13 pro back, at least it worked, camera, battery and all. This is with the 18.0.1 update installed.

16 pro lags, has typing issues on keyboard and has already frozen the screen with a compromised iCloud account, quickly draining battery with AI although it’s not released … Apple you dropped the ball with the compromised esims and second party authentication process. This has been going on for months. Snuggling got it resolved , nope not yet

Just got my iPhone 16 Pro and beyond disappointed with the battery life. AT& is gonna charge me $55 to change my phone. I traded in the iPhone 13 Pro Max (just like another person on this thread) for better battery life. Terrible.

Too bad Apple support doesn't actually read and comment with any help on these boards. They just leave it up to the buyers to help each other out. Not a company to stay loyal to anymore.
