Satellite Not Available iOS 18 iPhone 16 Pro

When using an iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18 in Canada.

I disabled the cellular and I disabled WiFi but when I click on the icon for Satellite I should get the option to send iMessage. But I only see demo and I always see Satellite Not Available.

Based on the Send a text message via satellite on iPhone - Apple Support (CA)

I am not seeing what I should. I only ever get the option for demo. I am in Canada should I think it should work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes I was outside at the time and had wifi and cellular off.

Hi Zackyy,

Do you live in a part of the world (USA) that has this option?
And when you look at the menu I posted above you also see Satellite Not Available all the time?

Hi Joe Dawson, thanks for your prompt reply.

I live in San Francisco, USA. My iPhone is not an iPhone 14 or later and doesn't have the satellite connectivity feature.

From what I have found from the article Connect to a satellite with your iPhone - Apple Support,

If you have cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, the Satellite option in Settings won't appear and the Satellite option in Control Center opens the Satellite Connection Demo.

If you have cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, the Satellite option will show "Not Available." Perhaps you can try the Satellite Demo Feature in the meantime.
