The number of recorded steps on the new Apple Watch 10 are not accurate. It took a five minute walk and it showed 750 steps. I then took a 10 minute walk and it showed 400 steps.
Is this a bug or does somebody know of a fix to correct this?

Did your watch arm move freely during the second walk?
If your arm can not swing back and forth, the Apple Watch can not register steps taken correctly. Carrying a bag or pushing a stroller, for example, will result in counting less steps taken.
Walking the dog might also influence the count, because holding the leash keeps your wrist kind of steady.
Do you also have the pedometer app installed on your watch?
I was walking my dogs but a pedometer app has a more accurate count than the Apple Watch step app.
Yes, I do. I noticed today that both Apps have similar readings. Don’t know how it changed but thanks for the advice on moving arms freely while walking dogs. Appreciated.
