pop ups in games after IOS 18 update

So on a couple of my games that I play everyday and have been for over a year now I'm suddenly redirected for fake survey's in Safari since I updated to IOS 18. It doesn't happen every time I go into the game, but more often than not I'll be in the middle of a turn and boom Safari is open with some fake survey. I do not pay for the ad free version of every game I play, since sometimes it's expensive, but this never happened until I did the update. Is this a common problem for IOS 18?

Any game (or app) can open a web page in Safari. The game is getting paid to do that just like they do when they show you a pop up ad. It is true that most games will do the pop up to keep you in their app, but you can bet they will open a page in Safari if they are paid more by the advertiser. This is true for iOS 18 and every version of iOS before that. You will obviously not want to enter any information, such as email, name, or other personal/financial information as that is more valuable to the advertiser and the game will be rewarded for that information.

You have several options:

  • Contact the developer to express your displeasure.
  • Write a review for the app in the App Store to alert other users of what to expect and that will also put the developer on notice as they know other potential users can read your review.
  • Quit playing the game.

I understand that games have ads....most of my games do, this is not a normal pop up add that happens between levels. This is something I've never had before IN ANY Game, that takes me out of the app and to safari to fill out a fake survey saying I WON something....most game pop up ads don't do that.

This has NOTHING to do with Apple. It's apparent you're using the free version of the games and the developers need revenue, so you're getting options which could lead to revenue for them. They need the revenue to keep developing and supporting their game. If you don't want these redirects or popups, buy the game and you won't get them. Otherwise, complain to the game developer as again, this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Apple.
