AirPods 4 ANC - low call volume on MS Teams on Windows 11

The issue is remains to be the same as was on AirPods 2 Pro and it was resolved mostly by just increasing volume on an AirPods steam. However, AirPods 4 doesn't have this option.

I've tried to play with all posible audio settings in Windows 11 and MS Teams but got no luck so far.

Any help here is much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my new airpods 4 without ANC, ... took a lot of troubleshooting and here's what worked for me:

  • Go to Device Manager
  • Expand "System Devices"
  • Find AirPods Hands-Free AG (Mine was labeled "Airpods Pro Hands-Free AG")
  • Right click and open up "Properties"
  • Click the "Driver" tab and "Disable Device"
  • Restart PC and it works

This workaround is works for my AirPods 4 ANC

  • Disconnect from both iPhone and Laptop
  • Reset AirPods 4 ANC
  • Reconnect to iPhone
  • Reconnect to Laptop

Now I can hear my colleagues voice louder in Teams, however I noticed that set volume to 100% is equivalent to 50-70% of other headsets. Maybe it is protecting our hearing because these’s Headphones Safety feature?

I had the same issue and I solved with way mentioned above.

Path with picture:

1.On my computer it was under Devices and Printers

2.After the selecting headset, and click the "Dienste2 (Services) tab, I have removed tick mark of "Freisprechtelefoni" (Hands-Free)

3.After than it was solved immediately. I did not restart the computer. It was just solved.

Dear All,

I wanted to share a quick update regarding the use of AirPods with Windows PCs.

If the hands-free mode is disabled to prevent automatic volume reduction, the AirPods’ microphone becomes unavailable. In this case, only the PC’s internal microphone can be used. Based on the latest available information, when connecting AirPods to a Windows PC, there are two options:

  1. Accept the automatic volume reduction and continue using the AirPods’ microphone.
  2. Disable hands-free mode to avoid the volume issue, but use the PC’s microphone instead.

Should you come across any updated or alternative solutions in the future, I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep me informed as well.

Yeah, sorry. This system doesn't seem to put the replies with what you're replying to. If you click the "in response to" link above my first post, you'll see what I was replying to. My experience was slightly different. Here's what I did.

  • Go to Device Manager (click the Windows start button and start typing "device manager" and you'll find it.
  • Expand "Bluetooth"
  • Find AirPods (not the "avrcp transport" one -- I don't know what that one does, but I didn't disable it)
  • Right click and open up "Properties" -> "Driver" -> "Disable Device"
  • Restart PC and it works
