Maintaining Photo Date/Time Order When Moved to an Album

I'm on a MacBook Air OS Monterey 12.7.6. My iphone photos automatically go to my Mac to the all photos Library when taken. When I import photos from a camera memory card, they go to Imports. All good. Both show up in their respective locations in correct date/time order. The problem is, when I want to move them to an album, they are then in a jumbled order, and I need to reorder them. I typically move them into an Album before giving them captions. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for why they get out of order when moved to an Album. I've tried moving as few as 5 or 7 at a time, and they still get jumbled. Any suggestions for how they can be transferred from Library or Imports to an Album in the correct date/time order? Thanks!
