So I don't know when things changed in Pages but -
In the past when I highlighted a word as above, I would simply start typing the replacement word that I wanted. Now, as soon as I begin typing I get this confusing mess -
I have no idea what this is and have no need for it. Is there a tweak somewhere that would prevent this dialog box from showing? Thanks.

Before you select a word and assume that you can just type over the selection, ensure that edit menu > Track Changes is not enabled (e.g. disable Track Changes), or it will automatically spring that trap that you show above.

Ah! Brilliant! Thank you so much for setting me straight on that feature. I feel so much better now not having to face that mes each time I want to make a change.
