Heard a beep and saw “Scanning your device”
I was just playing a game on my phone and heard two loud beeps. I closed the game and saw a message that said Scanning Your Device. Anyone know what’s going on?

It looks like your phone's security system or antivirus has tripped to check something. It might be caused by an app or something suspicious. You should check your security settings and make sure everything is up to date.
Nope! Nothing to do with security at all. It is the latest advertising effort that is used by the Ad service that the game supports.. The Ad plays a beeping sound that shows up in your Music Player on your device where you can play or pause the sound. Any app can add a song/sound to your music player, and they name it "Scanning your Device", so you think you have something scanning your device. This ties in nicely with the ad they are running to protect your device by downloading their software in the ad.

The message is a scam, presented by a less than honest advertiser. Report the app in the App Store then delete it.
You are welcome. No, the messages are nothing more than advertising, albeit deceitful advertising.
I don’t believe an app can scan your phone. However, if you have given an app permission to do things like access your Camera Roll or use Location Services, it could try to make use of whatever information you let it access.
If an app was involved in shady advertising tactics, you might think twice about giving it permissions, or about even allowing it to remain on your phone.

There is no "antivirus" on an iPhone. Please double check and carefully research any answers you get from services like ChatGPT before posting them.
Thanks @stedman1 do you think I need to be concerned that any secure information was retrieved from my phone or that I have a virus?
