iphone 14 cant scan bank cheque

Hi. I have a 'new to me' iphone 14 that has been updated to iOS 18.0, and the Virgin Money app isn't working the same. When I go to scan a cheque to deposit into my bank, the camera is the opposite way to how the cheque is place, ie cheque landscape, camera portrait. This means its totally strange to try and get the cheque into the camera square. The camera is not recognising the cheque to take the photo. The app does have access to the camera. Any ideas please?
