Mac OS Txt Messages "Not Delivered" Message!

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

macOS Monterey v. 12.7.6

iPhone 13 mini

iPhone 17.6.1

Messanger 14.0 (6000)

This is very frustrating because it "used" to work just fine before either of my devices got updated, Urgh :( !!!

Because "I" do not want my txts to be kept in history for anyone other than on my device, I do not sync my iPhone messenger with iCloud, period! Great Feature! This has worked for a decade!!!!!

While the following few months (May - September 2024), Mac Messenger has either worked or not worked where by I am able to txt someone or not!

  1. When I open Mac Messenger, my txt from my iPhone are no longer sync (Please do not tell me it is because I have iCloud sync off because this would be a lie)
  2. When I txt an iPhone recipient I get the dreaded "Not Delivered" message
  3. When I txt an Android recipient I get the dreaded "Not Delivered" message
  4. This all started with PDF files a few months ago to where we are at now!

Funny enough, I Tested today:

  1. I was able to send a txt message from Mac to an iPhone and it worked
  2. I was able to send a txt message from Mac to an Android and it worked, although "I did" get the "Not Delivered" message WTF???

Android recipient told me that they got the message!!!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.7

MacOS Messenger Window

Well Guess What Happen Today?

Yes, I continued to test by doing the same old thing every day! Send a txt message from my Mac to an Android device and it would continue to fail as in "Not Delivered" although the message would go through.

Today, wal-la "nothing" changed on my Mac nor the iPhone and well what do you know, I no longer get the "Not Delivered" failed message, the txt message actually goes through (like it was doing) but no error message any more!!!

Yea! What ever Apple did to my account, they must have done "some thing, Some Thing" to fix my problem.

Yes, I've doubled check that iCloud backup for messenger or keeping messages in iCloud is "Off" on both devices, like I want it.

I periodically experience what ra2833 describes above, and on reading BDAqua's comment I tried simply closing my Express VPN app and hitting "send again" on a text that was "not delivered" -- and it failed again to send. Now I have just used CleanMyMac to expunge ExpressVPN and will restart my computer and check again. Stay tuned.....

Nope, it did not work for me after deleting\removing\uninstalling VPN Client, Urgh! Nothing Changed!

I despise, hate wild goose chases! Am I going to have to ReInstall bare bone MacOS to finally tell you that it still does "not" work?

Any realistic reasons as to why the MacOS and iPhone OS upgrades broke an Apple MacOS Application?

It be nice, if an Apple Support Employee would ask for logs and figure out what went wrong.
