IOS 18 Calculator missing the running total feature.

After you press = to get the running total, press + or - and the running total will appear in the display box, and you can continue adding to it or subtracting from it.

As terrible as it is to use this work-around for something that used to work, I set one currency as US Dollar, the other as Bermudan Dollar. They always hold the same value so there will be no conversion and will give you a running total.

Or they could just give us the running total back.

I just got a free basic calculator from the App Store and deleted the iPhone calculator from my Home Screen. I could not be bothered with the inability to have a cumulative total. Not to mention the other inconvenient changes.

I'm using Calculator XL for my iPad and iPhone. Works great.

To compensate, I use the memory function for running totals

I was able to get a running total by turning on the currency conversion.

1. click the calculator icon in lower left
2. Turn on Convert
3. I think it defaulted to EUR
4. Click on up/down arrow next to EUR or what ever the currency is at in the bottom total screen
5. Select US Dollar (some times the USD doesn’t show as available, not sure why).

Now you have the top showing the ongoing math, and the bottom showing the running total.

Using the convert function to display a running total is not a solution as it requires conversion from one unit to another, which will not result in a running total of the values entered. We need to be able to display the running total regardless of whether we are converting.

Like others, the running total on the calculator was my most used function. Another maker of smartphone has a very similar looking calculator that also shows what you have entered, like the new iOS calculator, AND has a running total. There is enough room for both so why not add it? Who are they testing these things on before release?

Sadly the above doesn't work. Maybe if there were a currency that traded dollar for dollar with the USD this could work, but I haven't found one. And the calculator knows you don't need to convert dollars to dollars or Euros to Euros. Bring back the running total!!!

It has made the calculator useless for many situations, like having a progressive total of spend while shopping.

I use the calculator most days and need a running total, such an annoying

update. Any suggestions on a different app that does it as all look same in App Store

I have had to resort back to my hand held calculator. WTH is going on? Brand new iphone16 pro! This is ridiculous! Hoping it’s just a glitch 😡

I can't believe there's no setting to make this optional. I want the running total back.
