iPhone 14 Pro (128GB) battery capacity decline

I recently bought an iPhone 14 Pro (128 GB) in space black through a well-known refurbishing marketplace, Reebelo Singapore. Upon receiving the device on August 13th 2024, the maximum battery capacity was at 100%. From this date, roughly once every 4 days the battery capacity has declined by 1%, and as of the 28th of September 2024, the maximum battery capacity is now 89%. I try to use apple cables when I can and I have optimised charging on so that my battery will only charge up to 80% until an hour or so before I wake up. I have also made sure to turn off Always on Display to conserve my battery.

Is this issue shared by anyone else who has purchased a phone of the same/similar spec? What can I do to fix this? Or should I just wait until it drains to below 80% (Most likely in November if it continues as linearly as it has) and get the battery replaced?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

In general, you can expect the Battery Health to decline an average of about 1% per month over longer periods of time. The battery might not decline at all for a few months, then drop 2-3% the next month, for example.

If you purchased the phone on Aug 13, 2024 then the phone is only a little more than a month old. The Battery Health should be at 99-100% at this time. If your battery is really at 89%, the battery is defective and it needs to be replaced.

Maybe you meant to say that you purchased the phone on Aug 13, 2023? If that is what you meant to say, then the phone is about 13 months old and the Battery Health would normally be in the 87-88% range at this time.

Thank you for the useful information, Bob! I actually only purchased the phone 46 days ago so you are correct in saying that it is a strange occurrence ! However, as I did not buy it from Apple directly I am aware that the battery may have been replaced since it was last used (if it had been) and it may have been replaced with a faulty product. Thank you for affirming this with your expertise :)
