Right in the middle of the page I linked to, it says which countries are available, and Brasil is not included.

International claims

If your iPhone is lost or stolen while you are traveling, we can ship your replacement iPhone to you on the road. If you're overseas at the time, we can even ship a replacement to you in any country where Theft and Loss coverage is available. International replacement of lost or stolen devices is subject to device availability, and options may vary by region and iPhone model or color. It may take up to 4 business days after your claim is approved for your replacement iPhone to be delivered.

Available countries

    • Australia
    • Austria
    • Chile
    • Denmark
    • Finland
    • France
    • Germany
    • Italy
    • Ireland
    • Japan
    • Netherlands
    • New Zealand
    • Norway
    • Spain
    • Sweden
    • Switzerland
    • United Kingdom
    • United States

That would seem to be pretty definitive to me.

AppleCare+ Theft and Loss is not available for iPhones purchased in Brasil.

nor would Apple, from what I read there, ship a replacement iPhone to Brazil.

I strongly recommend not purchasing an iPhone outside of the country in which you live. The warranty on an iPhone is not international and so it would be quite possible to find that if you needed service you could not get it in your country. In addition, carrier support differs from country to country, so the iPhone from one country may not work in another.

Thanks leonardorick. you and one other got my point that this is about Apple Care. And, as varjack paw succintly pointed out, only a few listed countries honor the Theft & Loss plan from Apple (and Brasil isn't one). However, I will say this about Apple, any issue I've had with iPad Pro (2nd gen), MacBook Air M1, iPhone 14 pro max or my Ultra 2 watch has been quickly handled and at no cost to me since I have current Apple Care on all. So, my hat is off to Apple for fantastic customer service and to people like you who go out of your way to assist other Apple users.

PS for anyone wondering about the eSIM phones from USA...they work just as well in Brasil and are great bc I can easily utilize the phone as I travel back and forth between Hawaii and Brasil with a simple click in settings without having to fuss with changing out SIM cards.

If you purchase an iPhone outside your home country, it will have NO warranty in your country. And if you add an AppleCare+ plan to the phone in the country at purchase and try to use out in another country, it won't be valid. If you still plan to buy your phone in US, do NOT buy an AppleCare+ plan with it.

You should NOT buy a phone in the US if you don't live in the US. iPhone's sold in the US are dual eSIM only. The warranty won't be valid in your country and any savings you think you'll get by buying the phone outside your country will evaporate and then some, if you ever need warranty support.

Finally, if you are still not dissuaded from buying your phone in the US, buy it ONLY from Apple. Do NOT buy it at a BestBuy or carrier store as ONLY Apple sells fully unlocked phones. Buying it anywhere else and you'll find you can't even connect to a carrier in Brazil when you get home. Again, DON'T buy your phone in the US if you live in Brazil. Just DON'T do it.

thanks for the replies but there appears to be some confusion with what I have written. I am from Hawaii and I will be buying my iPhone 16 Pro Max in USA but I spend a fair amount of time working in Brasil. during the online purchase of the iPhone on the Apple website is, of course, the option to add Apple Care+ or Apple Care+ Theft and Loss. Within that AC+ Theft and Loss box is the statement "We can ship your replacement iPhone to any country where Apple Care+ with Theft and Loss is available." There is an asterisk after that statement and when you scroll down to the very bottom of the page the information in the supporting statement does not list in which countries Theft and Loss is available. My experience here in Brasil with Apple Care+ on any products purchased in the USA has been outstanding as there are Apple authorized support and service centers all over the country and now there are even 2 Apple retail stores in Brasil. Problem is the price is double of what we pay in USA for any Apple product. But back to the Theft and Loss, wondering if anyone has a list of what countries Theft and Loss is available. That is the question. Thanks for reading and hopefully answering with an apple supported page.

It's clearly a comment from someone from the US. Don't you get that people can pay literally half the price of an iPhone in the US? In Brazil most people will not care about AppleCare+ and of course Brazilians will buy a lot of iPhones in the US. If you lived in a country with this much of taxes you'd understand.

The question is about Apple Care and how it should work outside US, not if you should or not buy an iPhone outside Brazil, because that's something every Brazilian should definitely do.

We are giving people the best advice we can based on how Apple warrants iPhone worldwide. Let me ask you this. If you think buying an iPhone in the US will save money, HOW MUCH would you really save if you have a warranty issue in the country you live, if your phone is denied warranty support and you have to return to the US for service? The answer is ANY savings you may have gotten by buying your phone in another country will evaporate and then some should you need service.

"Why" is a question none of us, who are all just fellow users, can answer definitively (for any of Apple's products or services) since none of us have access to Apple's internal decision-making processes. My speculation is - and it is just that, speculation - that Apple has not found an insurance partner - Apple does not provide the insurance themselves, they contract with an insurance company - in Canada. Or there are insurance laws in Canada that make it impractical if not impossible. But again, no one here can know.
