Saving Shortcuts for Heading Levels in Pages on Mac

I recently discovered how you can add a shortcut )(F1, F2, etc) for heading levels in Pages.

However, they don’t save for future documents. Is there a way to make that happen. I tried saving as a template but that didn’t seem to work. Any ideas?

You must open a blank template as a new document. Create your Paragraph shortcuts, and then save that page as File menu > Save as Template… > Add to Template Chooser and give the new template a memorable name (e.g. Para Styles w/Shortcuts. Use this template for future Pages documents and your shortcuts will be available to you.
