Macbook Air M3 Text/Font is way too light to read comfortably and very small

Trying to get used to this new laptop. Finding the text way too light. Also text is super small (squinting is necessary) in the menu bar, search area, tab titles, etc. I've change the font size to large but it's still hit or miss where this adjustment is evident. Most importantly, is there any way to make the text BOLD as I did with my trusty 2011 Macbook Pro - that Apple no longer support :( Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
