iPad Mail Not Downloading Attachments (PDFs) After iOS 18 Update

Hello,

I recently updated my iPad to iOS 18, and since the update, I’ve been having trouble downloading email attachments, especially PDFs, in the Mail app. Whenever I try to download a PDF attachment, it either doesn’t load or gets stuck indefinitely. I’ve tried restarting my device and checking my internet connection, but the issue persists.

Has anyone else experienced this problem after the iOS 18 update? Are there any solutions or settings I should check to fix this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I found that in settings> Apps> Mail> Load Remote Content being on helped me then be able to download the attachments. It did pop up and ask if I wanted the Privacy Protection> Protect Mail activity turned on and I said yes. I don't know if that impacts it, but now my attachments are able to be viewed. Hope that helps someone else

Hello from Czech Republic and iOS 18.2.1., iPad Pro 4gen also iPhone 16 Pro,

we have issue with PDFs and also JPGs and PNGs and other attachements.

We are using emails with 20+ attachements in one mail, and whole mail text is downloaded, one or two attachements also, but other attachements are showing black arrow - download this - if you click - do nothing and not download anything.

Problem is it is business critical thing, because we are using app Mail as main app to emails (in other apps, Gmail and Outlook is problem NOT present, but we want still use app Mail from Apple, because it is most simple for users and we are used to it.

In iOS 17.6.1 - iPhone 11 Pro, and also older iPad Pro with iPad OS 17.xx - this problem is also NOT present - and all mails and attachements are coming smooth - and functional. - BUT - we dont want to use old iOS in old devices... security.

Problem starts really with iOS 18.0 and persist unfortunatelly till 18.2.1.

We hope Apple will solve this problem quick - from my perspective problem can be in iOS 18 settings account or also in App Mail from Apple also.

Fingers crossed to solve it quick.

We still did not lost trust in Apple brand.

Also have similar issue on 18.2.1. I received an gmail email with some ticket details and rf code and I could read it fine. Then in the iOS mail app I moved the email to my iCloud inbox. But when came to read it I just get the mime attachment box and can’t click and read it. It still readable though on a separate iPad on iOS 16. Can also view if forward the email back to myself! So looks like a bug to me and can’t see any settings to help see it.
