How can I limit the iPad volume for my child?

As a mom of a child with special needs, her iPad is important to her however, I really need some type of volume limit that I can control because she always has to have it on full blast. It’s disruptive to our family and it’s hard to go out in public to do anything, especially if I need to use the iPad to occupy her because the volume is up so loud there are parental controls for everything else why are there parental controls for this and I have looked into it thoroughly and she will not wear anything in her ears or on her head , so that doesn’t help me please for my sanity add volume limiting controls .

The iPad doesn’t have any settings to limit the iPad loudspeaker volume. You are not the first parent or guardian of a child with special needs - and are perhaps unlikely to be the last - to look for settings to limit the volume of an iPad.

Apple does invite submission of feature requests via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Did they add a way to limit the volume output for headphones in the new iOS? We also have a special needs child, and had to get a rid of our iPad because they eliminated the option to control the headphone volume. We would love to go back to the iPad but will not until they have added that option for headphone safety back into their iOS.

Headphone audio levels can be limited in iPad settings:

Settings > Sounds > [Headphone Audio] Headphone Safety > Limit Loud Sounds > Reduce Loud Audio - set to ON
