mac pro with final cut pro

Hi everyone,
I just got a 12 core mac pro. I installed and started using final cut pro. I noticed that final cut is only using 2 out of the 12 cores. I am wondering if this is a software problem. Final Cut pro isn't capable of using all available cores. Last time final cut pro was updated it was built for dual core computers. Any thoughts? thanks,

Scott

And that is what I keep reading:

Apple's math is 100% per core rather than say 15% of system resources.

That it isn't not highly optimized at all for multicore world.

And, a core using 100% rather than being efficient is actually a sign of the opposite. The optimizations that worked in the past (pre-Nehalem) get in the way now, and even then it wasn't ideal (running in circles, thrashing a core, constantly asking, even having to wait to get code and data in/out of Ln caches.

Also, sometimes HT isn't really useful, but then you can't can you prioritize an app rather to use less threads and cores the way Task Manager will.
