A long term ATT customer using an iPhone 12. If I purchase an iPhone 15 from the Apple Store, will my phone plan change? Is it a matter of just swapping the SIM card to use the new phone and keep my same cellular plan?

The iPhone 15 does not use a SIM card, so if you are buying through Apple in the U.S., they will be asking you questions about your ATT account to get the eSIM set up correctly.

The only way your plan changes is if you agree to it. If for example an offer requires you to be on a specific plan that is different than you have you will see an alert about it and would have to agree to the change. As mentioned, all current iPhones in the US are eSIM only so you won’t be able to swap out a physical SIM.
