How to play MXF files in Quicktime and Finder with Pro Video Formats 2.3

Bought a new MacBook Pro and found to my irritation that Pro Video Formats 2.3 does not allow me to play MXF files in Quicktime or Finder, I instead have to open an app like FCPX or Premiere to view them, which is a pain when you're just checking files and need to easily/quickly view them. I don't have this problem on my iMac, maybe older versions of Pro Video Formats on there allowed me to keep the functionality. Anyway, I found the workaround and am posting it here in case anyone else runs into this problem.

First, download an older version of Pro Video Formats. Here's a link to 2.0.7: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/53931/pro-video-formats/old-versions

Once installed, restart your Mac. If that doesn't do the trick, follow the steps here for restoring legacy video device support: If you can't use your camera or video output device after updating to macOS Sonoma 14.1 - Apple Support

Hope that works for you too.
