Virus from email downloaded by error on my macbook pro

This morning, I accidently downloaded and opened a virus from an email onto my MacBook Pro 14. Currently on macOS14.6.1.

I have not received any warning from my macbook but not sure if I should buy an antivirus software like from Norton. Reading the internet, it seems like I should not buy/install antivirus software and that Apple has robust software build against virus/malware.

Suggestions appreciated.

Thankyou!

There are no viruses that affect macOS so just forget that idea. Trash the email message just as you would with any piece of spam.

Like all non-Apple "anti-virus" products, "Norton" is junk. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk. Install nothing of the sort.
