iPod Classic sync

I have an iPod Classic which I have always kept synched on iTunes.

I attached it today and it showed my iphone 12.

I tried a second time and got the message 'iPod could not be synched as it could not find the folder'

I also got a message to restore to factory settings. I really don't want to do this as I have 40GB of music, etc on the iPod.

Can anyone tell me how to find the required folder, please?

If the iPod has been kept synchronised with this iTunes library, then all the music on the iPod should be in your library. If so, simply go through the process of restoring the ipod and then Sync the music form iTunes back onto the iPod.

If the music on the iPod is not in your library, the I would have expected a Sync with iTunes to have removed those songs from your iPod.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried the sync again today and it says sync is complete!

As it told me yesterday it could not find the folder, I looked in Edit Preferences/Devices and I see that only my iPhone 12 and iPad are listed - not my iPod.

Is there any way I can find where my iPod file is?
