Treated extremely rudely by a senior manager

I called about a mishap in a purchase. I purchased an app that was suppose to be $14.99 per month. When I finished the purchase it came up as $129.99. I canceled immediately. My bank declined the charge cause it didn’t look familiar. I called Apple support and was told to allow the purchase to go through and they would refund me. I asked why they couldn’t cancel the or change the purchase to the right price. He said he didn’t have the authority to do that. He would get a senior manager on the phone call. He says he can guarantee a refund or anything else. He says I can use Apple credit from a gift card or Apple Card to pay it. So I ask would they be willing to do that. He basically was really rude and hung up in my face.

Charges can only be refunded after they have been finalized. There is no way to refund a pending charges. If he said he could guarantee a refund, I would have taken him up on that offer and got is name also.


I don't know anything about the discrepancy in charges you had, but many apps offer both a monthly subscription price and also a free trial offer that includes a yearly subscriptions. In some cases you can choose the subscription term when you select the free trial.


I suggest you contact Apple again for a solution. Sorry, you experienced a rude person on support, that has not been my experience and not sure what reason they would have to be rude. There are some things that simply cannot be done, such as refunding a pending transaction, so they can only offer a different solution.
