Bent 11 Inch Ipad Pro 2nd Generation 2020

Hi everyone,

I bought an 11 inch Ipad Pro 2nd generation 2020 a few days ago on facebook (second hand). The Ipad is in good condition. However, there is a slight bend in the Ipad which I didn't see at the inspection when I went to buy it and only realised once I had come back home. It's very slight but it does annoy me a bit to be honest. Anyways, my question was, is it a concern or a safety hazard? Is it possible for the Ipad to catch on fire/explode or anything? Can I use it as I would normally? I am quite worried, so every bit of help is highly appreciated and will help me. Thank you.

iPad devices do not spontaneously bend.

Your photo perhaps suggests that the iPad has been sat-upon while it had been placed upon soft furnishings - this type of unintentional damage being more common that many end-users might admit. iPads that are not encased in a rigid fitted case are obviously more susceptible to this type of damage than those that benefit from additional physical protection. iPad models with larger screens and thinner chassis are obviously more susceptible to this type of damage.

To prevent this type of avoidable damage, never place an iPad on soft furnishings - or a bed/mattress. It only takes a moment of inattention to not notice an iPad when sitting down.

If the iPad remains functional, it may continue to be useable. However, be mindful of hidden internal damage - in particular to the iPad battery - that may cause the iPad to be a hazard. Li-ion batteries can catastrophically fail. While the illustrated damage is considered by you to be slight, the risk of continued use is entirely yours to assess.

You might consider seeking reassurance - if they are prepared to do so - from the Apple technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider:
