problem with iphone photos app when tryin to markup photos with text

Update 18.0.1 didn't fix it on my phone. Problem is still there after the update.

Same exact issue here. Glad to see that I’m not the only one. I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro. Seems to be a glitch. Hopefully Apple will correct it sooner rather than later.

Same issues here. Had a 12 Pro, updated to iOS 18, immediately noticed that changing text color in markup wouldn’t work, almost as if the color screen was force closing. It fixed itself for a couple days, then the same issue came back. My husband has a 14 Pro, my son has a 14, and their markup works just fine. I just upgraded to a 16 Pro since I was eligible for an upgrade and my 12 Pro became so laggy. I have the same issues with markup with my 16 Pro as I did with my 12 Pro, so it’s not a phone issue. The issue seems very user specific, but I do think it’s an issue with iCloud. I can save a photo to my files, open up the photo within the files app, and markup works just fine. It does not work through the photo app.

I don't use Markup much, so I'm a bit of a novice. But I just tried it on my phone: I chose Text, deleted the word Text, typed "Balloon" in default black, selected the text, and chose Format>More (...) from the pop up menu. I switched to red, and the it seemed to work for me:

I admit that I tried changing the color in the original drawing window, and it didn't work. But then I found (...) Format in the Pop up.

Is this Format screen the one that you're using? What happens for you?

Yes , definitely a glitch , @applesupport please sort it out having same issue here , someone on here said he or she could colour the text red with 3dots and “format” …. Couldn’t find that at all !!! Seems like this function needs fixing !!!!

I'm having the same issue on iPhone 13 Pro using IOS 18. Can't change the font color for "added text" on photo markups.

Running 18.01. Problem still exists.

Once I select the option in this menu to change the font color on the photo, the entire menu disappears. I have the iphone xr. My phone is up to date and I have not found an answer to this issue.

I have the iphone xr and I am having the same issue. I am unable to edit the text on a photo. The options appear, but disappear immediately. My phone is up to date. I have not found any answers as to why or how to fix this issue. It does appear to be an issue on both old and new iphones. Please post any information on how to fix this issue. Thank you.

Myself and many others have reported this same issue. It involves many different iphones, mine being Xr, but we all have the same complaint, that the results are from the last big update. Yet Apple has made zero response about this, and they have not provided an update to fix this issue. It is very frustrating because I use this tool very often, like many others who have contributed to this discussion. Maybe Apple has no idea how to fix it, or to them, it’s just not a big enough issue to waste their time on.

I just installed the iOS 18.0.1 update. Looks like they fixed this issue. 🙌

Really! I hope that's true for everyone…

I’m having exactly the same issue as described above. There seems to be no way to change the color of the text added onto photographs. I wish Apple releases a remedy shortly. Many thanks.

I’m having the same problem. I use the text menu often. This problem started with the download of 18. Hopefully Apple is on it. AI suggests several fixes, none of which work.
